Maida Cake / Maida Burfi

Maida Cake / Maida Burfi this is one of the simple and easy recipe. This is one of my favorite sweets during my childhood, still I remember when we go to sweet stall I always prefer this maida cake, even though my mom use to prepare this in home the colors will attract me. Thought of asking my mom for this recipe, but when I found this recipe in Raks Kitchen I couldn’t able to stop myself, tired immediately.

Maida / All purpose flour
½ cup
1 cup
½ cup
¼ cup
Rose essence
2 drops
Red food color
2 drops
Cashew nut chopped
1 Tbsp

  1. Grease a tray and bottom of a bowl (flat surfaced) or a zip lock bag.
  2. Heat ghee in a non stick pan, add cashew nut and roast until golden brown.
  3. Now add maida and cook for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the stove and keep it aside.
  4. In another pan, add sugar and water bring it to one sting consistency (take a drop of syrup in forefinger and gently press with thumb and release slowly there should be a string).
  5. Add rose essence and food color and turn off the stove.
  6. Add this syrup to maida mixture and keep stirring continuously (don’t heat) in few minutes, the mixture will start to thicken, in this stage pour into greased tray and level it with greased bowl or zip lock.
  7. Allow it to cool and cut into pieces.
